By chance Lorenzo and Mabi were heading east back to Sardinia and we were
heading west to Spain. It is always great to suddenly cross paths with
other sailing friends in different parts of the world !
So we headed West along the coast to Andraitx to meet them.
Thunderstorm clouds came over, the temperature dropped to a ‘cool’ 24 c in the
shade, feeling chilly and we had our first taste of rain for months-----our last
rainfall was in Kefalonia, Ionian on 18th May--- four months ago !!
So it was full foul weather gear on—a bit of a shock to the system.
The rain stopped, the wind reduced until the sails had to come down and the
engine went on.
By 15.30 after 15 N miles, we arrived into the lovely deep inlet bay of
port Andraitx with the old town perched on the hillside as a backdrop.
We moored alongside our friends boat, Mabi Two and marvelled that the two
boats have now sailed and sat together at anchor or in a marina in so many
places, Gran Canaria, the Atlantic, St Lucia, Bequia, Mustique, Tobago
cays, Union island, Illes de Saintes, Antigua and travelled the same Atlantic
return route to the Azores and the Med but at different times.
Now the two boats rubbed ‘shoulders’ in Mallorca, one heading East the
other heading West-------such is life.
It was a real treat to meet our friends again and spend time together. We
were sad to say goodbye leaving early the next morning to head West again to
Ibiza------- and Mabi Two to head East---- in the opposite direction.
