Phuket - Still - Monday 7th March
Today I was up first thing and on with the e-mails
and got a couple of jobs underway before starting the exercise regime aboard.
Seventy leg raises, 50 "sit ups" (lightweight ones - as my back does not bend),
50 tip toes then breakfast before the gym.
I headed up the hill to the gym, quite a climb
really in the scorching heat, only to be met by Freestyle Alee the taxi man who
was all set for wrestling me to the ground to get me into his front seat so that
I wouldn't have to walk up the hill. There was no taxi fare involved, he
was just concerned and pleaded that I should get in the car to save my back.
However the hill climb would be one of the best excercises of the day so I had
to decline a disappointed Alee who just wanted to help the stubborn "Farrang" -
that's me , and you, in Thailand.
The session went well with a 25 minutes cycle
before dizzily and dehydratedly stepping off the the bike and across the puddle
of my own sweat to wobble to the bench press. No problem there either and a
timid 25kg caused not too many problems. Next the leg extensions and then the
biceps curls before some strange pull down exercise with two ropes and weights
which seemed to be working on my back and which I thought may help build my
spinnaker handling muscles, so I included it in the session. I got stuck
right into it and because the home-guard have warned me ad nauseum about
not over doing it, I stopped before I vomitted as a concession to their
concern. Twenty lengths of the pool followed and
guess what - I felt fine!
That was then. Now the triceps and biceps of course
are starting to shrink and knot up, no doubt in the morning my stomach will be
trying to pull my pelvis to my chest all of its own accord and as for the thighs
- well lets just hope Alee has the car at the bottom of the hill again tomorrow
because we are going to ramp it all up a notch and do it again.
Yesterday I e-mailed away my Xrays to the spinal
surgeon in Penang and today I got a note back saying that the mail was received
and someone would look at it and I should hear something withing six
weeks.
No, just joking I got the response back first thing
this morning and ..... well I would like to tell you now but with all that gym
work today my fingers are now cramping into claws and am unable to move both
hands without turning my shoulders so got to go oh oh
ow ouch........!
