Position 2:15S:93:28:54W Settling In The first 3 days of any passage involve a settling in period, what time are
the watches going to change, when are we going to eat, when and how often will
we record the data that is a requirement of law on any sea journey. Once all the
above is established we just go about the day eating sleeping and attending to
the sailing.
On watch 4 hours off watch 4 hours gives you 12 hours in which to sleep and relax listening to music reading or just watching the ocean and night time stars. And then there’s the visitors, at the present time we have a flock of 3
seabirds feeding from the fish disturbed by our bow, this goes on 24 hours a
day, they are black headed gulls of some sort, we are not familiar with all the
seabirds and don’t have reference on board.
At night they use the light from our bow to identify their pray and can be observed darting in and out of the sea for their round the clock feed, during the day one of the gulls visited the foredeck to preen and oil its feathers before joining its buddies on there never ending feed, we are unsure where and when they sleep as we didn’t see them rest yet. Ah well back to the watch until 04:00 From all onboard Mojo |
