Mojo blog 13 Some days we get to relax fiddling with controls to eke out an additional .01 of a knot, it makes us feel good, but today was full on from dusk till dawn, the wind wouldn’t settle so we went through our sail wardrobe chasing 6.3 knots of wind or reefing every few hours preventing 20 knots of wind doing damage to our ropes rigging and sails chasing up and down the wind spectrum trying to quite the boat and maintain an even track. I woke from my 4 hours off watch at midnight to find the horror movie had just started, all hatches were closed tight, and the companionway exit our storm board and cover were in place. I glimpsed Paul who was drenched through and through and realised I had slept well, while he was playing a major role in the Rain movie. I dressed thinking how hot , how many layers and how long before I look the same bedraggled sailor, I was in luck I was handed the watch together with a steaming hot mug of tea and by the time it was finished so was the rain. The thunder and lightning which can bring major problems to all electronics
on board had produced the protector of all things with pcb’s and wire and things
inside…… the Pressure Cooker. Yes, it is a well-known fact that this piece of
equipment will look after your iridium handheld gps and mobile phone, just make
sure you don’t light it or you’re really cooked.
Well folks 428 miles to Nuku Hiva and the rainy season is from March to October, we will be there just in time for more rain. Mojoites clear.
