WE SWIM WITH DOLPHINS ON THE WEST PART OF DOLPHIN REEF COMPLEX

Our stay on the Dolphin reef complex was extended due to strong winds.  The longer we stayed, however, the more determined we became to see the famed dolphins there.  On Sunday 4th we were alerted by other yachts, at anchor, that dolphins were in the West lagoon.
We took the dinghy over to the West from our anchorage in the East lagoon and at first were disappointed.  We made the best of it with a quick snorkel on a bommie there.  Quite soon, however, the dolphins returned.  There were about eighty of them, mostly part-grown, swimming lazily around.  We took the dinghy in amongst them and were able to swim quite close to them.  All in, we spent about half an hour in and out of the water and the dinghy to keep near them and managed a few pictures too.  Our long wait on the Dolphin reef complex was finally justified.
