BVI to Bermuda - Day 2
Day 2 – Noon 7th May to Noon 8th
May The wind had been good to us and hasn’t yet let us down.
We managed 142 miles in the second 24 hour period which was better than I hoped.
The swell has reduced and people slept better on the second night. Day 3 still
forecasts lighter winds. After the great success at fishing on the way over the
hook was quickly back in the water. Problem – there is loads of floating seaweed
all around and the lure keeps getting fouled with weed. Repeatedly reeling in,
removing the weed from the hook and then re-launching the lure wore thin after
several attempts. We’ve given up for now until we get to weed free waters. Where
will that be? Exactly where is the So what other toys could we find to play with?
Skipper whipped out his sextant and has been taking loads
of sunsights and armed with various almanacs is busy working out where he
is. The rest of the crew already has a firm opinion of where
he ought to be!
