Bermuda to Azores - Day 4
Day 4 – Noon 22nd May to Noon 23rd
May The noticeable difference between this trip and the last
is condensation. Before it gets dark the cockpit is already dripping and it
stays like that all night until the sun gets high enough to dry it out. Oilskins
and wellies are the order of the night Today the sea is rough and making progress is hard work.
After our becalming the wind eventually picked up but of course it’s from the
North East. Guess where we want to go. Bring back downwind sailing – it’s so
much easier. So today, oilskins and wellies are the order of the day as
well. But we have had some lighter moments when the sun shone.
Benji gave Nick some extra fishing gear which he has been trying out.
Unfortunately all the mahi-mahi have stayed behind in tropical waters so no
success yet.
We had another great dolphin show today. It reminded me
of a cowboy film where the Indians are chasing the stagecoach. There were hordes
of them, down both sides of the boat and a line of them following in the wake.
Usually they play under the bow - haven’t seen them playing in the wake before.
And even though this one is a boys only trip standards
are still being maintained. Domestic chores have to be done. Pat will be
bursting with pride at having trained her boys so
well!
