Day 10 – Noon 28th May to Noon 29th May

The last four days have been exceptionally hard. Gale after gale after gale. Rain, big winds and big seas. But finally we’re through them, for the next couple of days at least. Our trusty friend the barometer is shooting back up at a phenomenal rate. We’re all very tired but in really high spirits now that the sun has come out and the wind decreased.

Note the chef’s hat! Fun and games in the kitchen.

We’re trying hard to catch up on sleep and sort out the boat. After 4 days of being tossed around like a cork the boat is a trifle untidy. Food and drink spills are a way of life in those conditions. I’ve just cleaned a cup a soup off the wall and Nick’s pancake batter had a laugh when it emptied itself into a tin of corned beef. The other chief problem is all the wet clothing and bedding but we’re slowly drying stuff out.

No doubt the weather hasn’t thrown the towel in yet but for the time being we’ve got the upper hand and we’re getting ever nearer to the Azores.
