Bermuda to Azores - Day 7
Day 7 – Noon 25th May to Noon 26th
May First the good news And this is for Paul, Ric and Mike. We did better than
Rosie – we all survived your Dad’s corned beef hash
ok. Secondly we managed 124 miles in the right direction
yesterday having found the Now the less good news
We had a problem with the steering wheel cables coming
adrift from the rudder. But thanks to a sterling effort by Nick crawling around
under the floor while the boat was bouncing around in 35 knot winds we have
fixed the problem and the steering is now working fine. Nick you’re a star and
have earned your place on the boat big time.
Strange just as we were stopped mid ocean working on the
problem another sail boat suddenly appears and passes within 100 metres. We have
a chat on the VHF set and then just as suddenly he’s gone again.
Bizarre. Our old opponent is up to his tricks again. The barometer
is plummeting and there is a gale warning in place so having headed North to
find the Westerly wind we’re now heading South to avoid the gale. This game
isn’t over yet by a long way. Paul -
