Day 15 1200 Monday 7th December

We passed the 3/4 mark during day 15 so the ETA for day 20 looks more and more realistic. The only thing that will prevent us achieving that now is too little wind or too much.

We are getting too much wind more frequently now as we get closer to the Caribbean. This morning the wind gauge registered 42 knots during a squall which saw us heaving to until it passed. An unfortunate casualty of that little episode seems to be the masthead VHF aerial which is now flopping about. We have an emergency antenna we can use if we lose that one altogether but it’s a nuisance and I don’t fancy going up the mast in the big swell that we have at the moment.

So what else is news?

We had two more dolphin encounters yesterday one group of 6 after lunch and then a couple just before dusk.

Just after lunch

But the really big news was that we finally finished the tuna on day 14 and everybody cheered when we had aubergine parmesan for dinner instead of fish. You can definitely have too much of a good thing. We worked out how many portions we had eaten between us. You could have fed 50 people from that fish.

This is what we had been up against.
