We spent a marvellous day anchored with a zillion other boats in a pristine bay on Anti Paxos, the small derivative off the South end of Paxos, the bay is sandy and the water an azure blue, not seen by us since the Carribean, we swam and snorkelled and, despite the plethora of boats anchoring and tearing up the sand and weed, Carol found a sea horse! We then sailed up to Monganisi, a supposedly safe anchorage on Paxos, to shelter from the forecast South Easterly wind. We ate out and had a great evening, coincidentally, it was where a flotilla was berthed for the night, and so the restaurant put on Greek dancing and music and a fun time was had by all. About 2200 I noticed a rain drop on the table and a whisper of wind, we hurriedly paid our bill and returned to P3 who was moored, Meditteranean style, anchor, and stern ropes ashore, the wind whistled from abeam and we were blown backwards onto the rocky shore, scraping our rudder on the rocks, it was dark and wet and windy and we cut the ropes and headed out into the little area of clear water where we anchored again and spent the night, I was up every time a gust blew and it was 0400 before the wind abated and I slept. This morning, it is now 1000, it is still raining and we are located right in the centre of this tiny bay with boats all around us, at least 6 other boats had the same problem, it was like Piccadily out there! I really hate this Meditteranean mooring, its ok as long as there is no wind or it blows only from ahead, if it blows on the beam, the anchor has no chance. Bloody Med. Ready to put P3 to bed now and come home for a spell, although we are enjoying having Michelle and Julian, we need a rest.
