What a ghastly trip! We set off at 0700 this morning with a forecast of North 4/5 maybe 6 and had a great start, the wind rose and rose and went North East and we ended up sailing and motor sailing through 40 knots of wind, force 8 to 9!! Full scale gale, the waves were as big as on the Atlantic crossing but not the benign Atlantic rollers coming from behind, no, these buggers were forrard of abeam and crashing all over us, one took the perspex window out of the sprayhood, saw a swordfish jump about midway and fished all the way and caught nowt, only fished because it was too hard to pull the lure back in in the horrendous seas. OK enough moaning! We arrived safely and, apart from the dinghy filling with water, no problems to speak of, the wind is now 10 knots, benign and lovely and we are on an idyllic anchorage off the little sandy island of Es Palmador, Carols cooked me a big steak and all is once more well with the world! However, Altea is probably our most favourite bit of Spain, why don't we just keep P3 there for a year or 6, maybe after this trip if we don't sell her.
