The 19th June dawned a bit cloudy and the boat was soaked, a very heavy dew seems to be the pattern for these climes, I had the sunrise watch, 0430 to 0630, relieving poor Karin who had the dreaded dog watch 0230 to 0430, never mind she was cheered up later in the morning, I was below when she cried out in great excitement, ‘whale, whale’ and sure enough, there was a 20 metre fin whale off to port, we all got a good look at him with a great brown and black back, fin and saw him blow several times before he disappeared into the blue, what a wonderful start to our day. The mahi-mahi  was expertly cooked by Joe and Karin with mashed potatoes and peas, beautiful, food fit for a king. I did the washing up. We are making 7 knots in a cracking breeze now, although last night the breeze went to nothing and we lost a lot of ground, we had an hour or two of engine today, the first since leaving Bermuda. Phil asks to be remembered and sends his best wishes to all his chums at Thales.
