A frustrating day, the engineer, having not turned up on Saturday was due today, we waited around until 11 or so and, in desperation, we rang them, Arthur managed to talk sense with his french, and the told us the engineer would be with us between 1400 and 1500, Arthur and I sped off in the dinghy to the port Office and we checked out, only took about an hour this time! We then hoisted the dinghy and outboard aboard, and readied p3 for sea. 1500 came and went, at 1600 I asked the office to ring the engineers, they said he would be with us in half an hour. I paid the Marina for our 12 night stay, they did a good deal at 30 euros a night, kind of them as their standard rate was about 75 euros  .The engineers finally turned up at about 1715, nice guys, they got the pump on and p3 running within an hour or so. I then walked over and found the agency offices to pay the bill, it was up a windy street, a top floor flat/office, all very mysterious, but duly paid up the 1,900 euros and we left Cagliari at 1900.
All went well for the first 3 hours, we motored out of the harbour and found our way through the channel and down the east coast, sailed at a sprightly 8 knots for a while, the wind then dropped, in a second, the thunderclouds gathered and the Navtex gave out gale warning for the Sardinian Sea. After some debate, we agreed it was foolhardy to deliberately sail into a gale when there was a port of refuge at hand, so we went in to Port Teulada for the night, arriving at 0100 and slept through until 0900. I have definitely decided that an evening start to a long voyage is a bad idea. It will not happen again and we are now here for two nights and will leave tomorrow at the crack of dawn. All well but will we ever get away!! Forecast looks ok for tomorrow although the whole Med has a Westerly airflow at present.
