Well, the news could be worse, we are settled into this pleasant, nearly empty marina, alongside berth with power and water, we have negotiated a fair rate of 45 euros a day and the engineer called yesterday and confirmed my fears that there is a problem with the fuel pump, unfortunately, yesterday was Friday, so there is nothing doing until Monday, when they are taking the fuel pump off and taking it to a local firm for a service, we are hopeful it will be back Monday afternoon for a Tuesday departure, then we shall pile on the miles trying to still make Portugal for mid May. Meantime, as Walter, the Marina manager said, 'you are bloody lucky to be here now' , it is the Town Saints day today, 1st May, we have spent the morning strolling through the enormous market and watching the processions of folk in various national costume and ox drawn wagons, like in the Azores except they are not giving away free wine and bread!!. Going to hire a car tomorrow and have a look around the island, we are determined to enjoy our enforced stay, there are worse places to be stranded after all! The 700 euros for the tow still hurts though.
