Day’s run - 155 miles
A good distance at an average of 6.5 knots, but the wind
is now less and the weather more summery with blue skies and sunshine.
Baking news
Wiz cooked his first loaf this morning using Charlie’s
recipe, and was seen on his hands and knees on the cabin floor, kneading it into
submission with both fists, a trick he learnt from Allan.
Fishing news
The Lure Mark 2 has been constructed - from a lead
weight, a huge hook, two strips of white velcro cloth, and a tin lid cunningly
folded so as to act as a spinner. The whole thing is designed to look tasty to a
big fish, and the line is wound around a wooden board attached to the boat with
shock cord, so that when the monster fish strikes it won’t pull the cleat off
the boat . . . . but, yesterday “we were going too fast” and today “it’s too
cloudy”, so the North
Atlantic fish stocks remain safe.
Galley news
We continue to eat well – lunch today was smoked salmon
on freshly baked wholemeal bread (see above) with roasted peppers drizzled with
olive oil, cumin flavoured coleslaw and beetroot. Everyone has had a lie down
this afternoon to get ready for Allan’s Fidget Pie this evening.
