Mixed fortunes............

Neroli had an exciting night of sailing and we made great progress westward, and had logged 1,000 nautical miles from Las Palmas by 0301 GMT. By dawn the wind eased again and down came our tradewind rig and up went the spinnaker and mains'l. The sun came out and the skipper, Lou and Graham all made a start on their Airfix models. Charlie has a very impressive model of HMS Victory but Lou and Graham's models of WW2 fighter aircraft are less impressive and (they think) much more difficult.

The skipper and HMS Victory - a work of art!

It is now dark although we have a wonderful new moon and we are making very slow progress. The forecast suggests that it will be like this for about 36 hours but it is very muddled. Henry also tried fishing today with an enormous lure and hooks which look big enough to catch a Great White Shark. The fishing shop in Las Palmas guaranteed that we would reel in the fish but no luck so far.
Graham's friend Doug from Texas emailed us today to confirm the current position of the 'Waypoint Bar' which is a bit of a relief really because we were not absolutely certain of its co-ordinates. We are concerned that it may become very crowded so we are not disclosing its precise location on the internet. There is a certain amount of dis-agreement amongst the crew about whether or not we should be distracted by such frivolities so watch this space.
Dinner tonigh was a wonderful Lamb Tajin cooked for us by Francoise before we left Las Palmas - simply delicious. Hopefully we can report faster progress tomorrow!
