Arrived................
Well Neroli
crossed the finishing line at Rodney Bay, St Lucia at 01.29 am local time today,
Sunday 14th December 2008, less than 21 days out o Las Palmas. As we
approached the island a couple of other boats came into sight and we carried our
spinnaker after nightfall. Our first sight of land for three weeks was
Martinique to the north and then the twinkling lights of St Lucia came into
view. Before rounding Pidgeon Island to head for the finish we could hear
the throb of carnival music from the shore. After finishing we were greeted by a
photographer in a RIB and then docked in the marina to be greeted by Francoise,
Nick, Elsie, Charlie Jnr and Jan and a local reception committee with baskets of
fruit and rum punches.
After champagne, rum punches and some beer everyone retired for a
deep sleep with no night watch worries - particularly for Charlie, our skipper.
It is too early to know how well we have done but we hope to have
a very good corrected time.
