September 10th 2013 – Lake Inle
The fields opposite our hotel are being cropped and the rice hung to dry
These two ladies have to carry their rice from the millers to their home
They stop to take a rest, and David helps the older women put the sack back on her head to carry again
This is the mill where the women collected their rice
Some people can afford a tractor however!
The brick chimney here is used as a crematorium
The pig in the Right hand shed has its’ sewage going into the pot in the middle, as does the toilet in the Right hand shed!
Chopping a tree down for burning fuel
Someone’s private house on the river
Another way to carry heavy loads
But a lift on the tractor would be easier!
Hotel staff going home
Workers going home after working in the fields
Our hotel bungalow on stilts – ‘Fine views and cuisine’ offered us a ringside view for the above photos and sunset below
