towards Gili Air
Lovely anchorage the first tourist
island we have visited. Great coral saw some turtles then had dinner
with the people off the Swan who we met up with again.

Distance run 42 miles
So many tourists and beach
restaurants here – we can hardly believe the change to having seen
virtually no tourists the whole time we have been in Indonesia for the past
month.
We arrived just in
time to enjoy a cool drift snorkel over the sheltering reef.
We could see the rain
closing in again, together with a lot of wind, here we go again- on a lee
shore. But this time we’re on a mooring which seemed to be strong
enough! Thankfully the rain was on the main island of Lombok and passed
us by, just close enough to cool the atmosphere. Olly and I took the
dinghy ashore to find some fresh pineapple and mango to make our afternoon
smoothy with.
Here are those pony
and traps again, not just for tourists, but for carrying the bags of cement
and huge timbers for all the building works going on here.
We have a meal at the
shore-side beach restaurant called Scallywags, with the owners and crew of Titania who
had arrived already at 5
a.m., having sailed all night from the resort on Sumbawa. Not expensive, and so nice to be
catered for after a month of cooking aboard!
Sunset
from our mooring in Gili Air, 6.15 p.m. local time, Bali in Sunrise from our
mooring in Gili Air, 6.15 a.m. local time, Lombok in distance
Saturday 25th September 2010 - Towards Bali
0810hrs Left Gili Aer - a great stop to chill out nice
beach bars etc. We had a 54 mile hop to Seranga Island where we have planned
to officially check-in to Indonesia, re-fuel, re-provision and show Ollie
some of the Island of Bali.
Arrived after a lovely sail, must have gone through a fleet of at
least 200 local fishing canoes all under sail!
Very strong tide rips and standing
waves
