The Butang group of islands, just N.W. of Langkawi look so inviting from the air as we flew overhead on our way from Phuket back to Langkawi!
We’re not disappointed, the National Park bekons, with the rain forest looking in good condition as we anchor the boat nearby
We feel we’d like to jump in, but too frightened of the jellyfish!
We had an upleasant swell from the SE reaching into the anchorage marked with a ring on the LHS, so anchored opposite, close to the reef behind two rafts of fishing boats We were not suprised to find that most of them went out to sea at night, to give us sailors a hard time when trying to navigate if we have to in the dark!
The following morning, we had to navigate our way through this narrow channel. David had a hell of a job getting the anchor up, the windlass was slipping. He did not have the time to repair it, so winched it up on the mast winch using the rope and hook we normally use to stop the anchor chain from snatching. Then it started to rain! Good for keeping him cool whilst winching with all his might to get the 50kg anchor up from 20 meters depth! |
