Drinks at sunset

Clouds form before we got stranded here by
2 days of rain

After a wonderful sunset the previous
evening we got up at 5.00am to go bird watching by 6.30am it started to rain,
the first time it has rained in the dry season since the 1950’s!

Great fashion rainwear

We slid 25 kilometres each way to Diamond
Gorge and back, it then continued to rain for the next 48 hours closing all
the roads. Guests charted a small plane to fly them out as they had an
international flight to catch leaving their 4WD hire car here! The plane
nearly didn’t make it as it got bogged down on the airstrip as it
landed!

Agile Wallaby hops past or tent

Purple Crowned Fairy Wren like the
pandanus trees in the creek
Next our tent

Huge fig tree offers plenty of fruit

After the rain

These cute crimson finches come out to feed
in grasses near our tent

The Gouldian finch is much rarer, down to
2,000 only
Left, and Mornington is a choice site for
their recovery programme

Termite mounds are impressively large
