We
used the Sunday to take a slow drive along the twisty coast road, calling
into Beaulieu sur Mer. Where we used to sit on the beach is now a huge
marina. Thankfully, the Rothschild mansion on Cap Ferrat is now open to
the public, so without even paying the crazy price of 30 Euros each to visit
it ($45US) we were able to enjoy the views across to Beaulieu and Cap d'Ail
from its gardens.

The petite corniche has lost none of its allure and
beauty - grand mansions still stand, although most seem to be shuttered up
against the bright sunshine, and youths jumping into the azure blue sea off
the rocky promontories, or locals and tourists sunning themselves on the
spare bits of beach, in between those reserved by the hotels.
