Whitsunday’s to Townsville

Cape Cleveland Lighthouse.jpg

Rounded Cape Cleveland at 8 a.m. in calm weather – and decided to stay at Magnetic Island as we still had a couple of days of good weather to enjoy.

Magnetic Island is full of round boulders of granite – like this man sitting and watching the view – surely nature could not have positioned him better?

The anchorage was perfect, just a very gentle swaying to rock us to sleep.  A great walk across the island to some of the other bays offers a great way to stretch our legs!

The tide goes out so fast, it’s easier to anchor the dinghy rather than drag it across the beach

The beach front at Horseshoe bay has plenty of small restaurants and places to stay.  We’re so happy to be back into cruising mode for a short while, before going into the marina at Townsville to get more jobs done, and the final bits of shopping to stock the boat up for 3 months cruising with no shops up in the Louisades Islands , in Papua New Guinea.
