Shelter Bay Marina has a reasonable restaurant and a few amenities, one of which is not good WiFi! We have all been tearing our hair trying to send and receive emails and phone calls. First world problem!
Louis came back from his first run ashore full of excitement. He had seen monkeys and various other jungle animals. The marina sits aside glorious walks through the verdant undergrowth. The sounds of Howler monkeys and the frolicking of Capuchin monkeys accompanies all excursions, especially at either end of the day. The beauty of nature refreshes the spirit. Until… one comes upon an abundance of rubbish, mostly styrofoam from take away meals, lining either side of the road.
The crew of Syke III asked the marina staff for permission to organize a jungle clean up and when it was granted called all Oyster World Rally boats to participate. With many hands the work was indeed made lighter, but it was a hot, sweaty and dirty job.
We proudly carted tons of rubbish back to the marina, where the owner of Skye III had arranged a van to pick them up and dispose of them in an appropriate location.
