Final night of approach

Thursday

The sea is totally mirror flat, with some ripples caused by the occasional
flying fish. Bright, hot and sunny weather again.
We are in the final 12 hours of the passage towards Antigua, all going well
so far. Fuel and engine have performed impressively and there was even some
allowance to turn on the generator and use the watermaker.

The crew take a jovial quick last swim of the crossing to the tunes of 60's
funk. The chance was taken to check the propellor for any more debris, and
to give a quick scrub of the transom. It took 32 years and some goading from
the Cap'n, but Raymond opens his eyes underwater for the first time and
thankfully sees that all is fine with the propellor.

Ian rigged up a boathook with a nifty combination of a gopro camera, velcro,
and a bottle of 'Bertha's Revenge' gin to get some dairy-based nautical
footage.

Crackling transmissions of weather reports are heard tonight on the VHF from
Guadeloupe and Martinique; the first audio since Cap de Miol passed by us a
couple of weeks ago. There is too much interference to hear the reports
properly so far.

Manuela continuing with dedicated work on polishing the gelcoat and more
work done on getting the bilge up to scratch amongst other tasks underway by
Stuart.

Any fishing has been abandoned after several chunks of Caribbean seaweed
deemed not worthy of the effort.

92 NM to Antigua.
