Aboard Irene IV, as she resides in Castlepark Marina in Kinsale, Stuart, our workhorse skipper, is beavering away in preparation for the Oyster World Rally.

  • The main and outboard engines have had full overhauls and servicing - we are not going anywhere fast without these in good working order!
  • The water maker, a vital element in crew comfort, has been prepped for service
  • New sails and light bulbs have been ordered - from sublime to ridiculous, it all matters
  • Wireless chargers, have been installed - how could we survive without?
  •  Fuel and water tanks have been cleaned - good news!
  • The navigation system has been configured - so no excuse for going the wrong way!
  • and the list goes on...

No rest for the wicked, you may say! Except that Stuart is not wicked, he is a gentle yogi, who, without any fuss, gets the job done, with great attention to detail.

Thankfully, Stuart got to take a break when his mother visited this weekend. Justin and Jenny Green organized a night’s stay for them both at Ballyvolane House, in Fermoy, Co. Cork. They loved it!

"It was hard to say goodbye to Mum!”, says Stuart, as he will not see her for almost 2 years, and this after the Covid era absence.
Louis, Stuart and Sabine will be the permanent Irene IV family and will need to be mother, father, brother and sister to each other!
