The one that got away - part 2
Monday

Another close call on the fishing front. The rod went berserk and Stuart
jumped into action, using his hard-won knowledge from yesterday's battle.
The fish was heavy and gave a good fight, and managed to again evade capture
despite a bloodthirsty Ian waiting with gaff hook at the ready. Watch this
space for round 3, where Stuart gets his tuna.

With inconsistent winds in the afternoon hampering our course, we decided to
goose-wing. We are generally using a preventer sheet for the main, and a
poled out headsail to maximise the downwind angle. This worked for a while
but we have shifted to the engine again this evening as wind direction was
not playing...squall.

Exercise continues since yesterday's initiation, with Sarah doing Pilates in
the saloon to a video on her laptop, putting in a very respectable hour in 4
metre rolling swell conditions.

More polishing and checks ongoing, including on the engine room; which
brought Ian some nostalgia for his days in merchant navy 50 degree engine
rooms on the Panama Canal.

Very hot and hazy conditions, with a slight breeze and slow moving high
clouds. Darkness falls to the smell of Sarah cooking some chorizo for the
crew. A Two course breakfast, followed by a bolognaise pasta for lunch
prepared by Manuela.

All going well, we are expecting to hit the formal halfway point in the next
24 hours.
