An uninspiring Sudan...but 147km in the bag!

147km cycled today.....first 25 km in convoy with a police escort getting out of Khartoum....quite a mission and created quite an event for the locals..... Not an attractive cycle though...

Then we split up and the road was the most uninspiring todate.....real 3rd world stuff....and a narrow road with lots of trucks with double trailers flying past us cm's from the bike.....!

Either side of the road was flat and full with plastic bags blowing around, a constant dust cloud, and lots of dead domestic animals lying on the side of the road.....the worst ride to date, but one I had expected earlier on the trip. Apparently the next three days of Sudan are like this, before we enter the new environment of Ethiopia.
