We started out for the Lake District. We were going to Windermere.
Traveling from Halifax going Northeast, we arrived at Windermere in the
afternoon in the wind, rain, and cold. What’s new! We checked into the Bed
and Breakfast, Southview. We went to dinner, walking in the rain, wind and
cold to the local pub, one of them, for dinner (Steak and Ale pie ) and
back to the hotel. We stopped along the way at Kirkby Lonsdale and took
pictures of an old Norman built bridge. When we got up in the morning and
got ready for the day, we had the Full English Breakfast furnished by the
Inn. We departed and began our tour of the Lake District. When traveling
along the lake shore, we noted several sail boats either tied to the
floating docks or on moorings. It was reported that the lake water doesn’t
freeze in the winter so the boats are left in the water. Shirley was not
feeling well, so we made a short day of it and went back to walk the
village of Windermere. Stopping at a bakery, where we gathered up some
things to eat at the inn so we didn’t need to go out later that evening.
While walking around the village, the rain stopped, for a short time, but
was back by the time we arrived at the inn.
We found this unusual store in Windermere - It seem Shirley gets around !!
