Slid into our berth in Osprey Point at 07.20 this
morning.
Departure from Hampton yesterday was at
11.00hrs after 6 hours sleep, minor tidying of boat, emergency provisioning as
the last beer had been consumed at 12.30 am, and farewell to one of our
favourite boat companions, Beckoning, whose engine had died in a spray of oil 8
hours previously. They were towed in the last 60 miles by the "AA". (This was
not all bad as they were able to sit in the cockpit with whisky and soda - lucky
things)
We had a great trip up the bay with enjoyable
sailing all day and motoring all night. As we passed the fuel dock an osprey was
sitting on the sign - and there is a nest 100yds from the boat - a welcoming
sight.
Pelekan has been sailed, motored and
cajoled for 1710.9 nautical miles. She
has leaked, had sails ripped from their anchorings but delivered us safely to
Rock Hall with a winners plate. We have almost consumed the vast amount of food
on board, run dangerously low on beer, tried, tested and approved sea
sickness treatments and emerged unscathed with only the multiple bruises which
you get all over your body from boats, even if you never leave the
harbour.
Great fun -must do it again some
day...........
Much love
Tom ( Captain"cool" at all times, chief beer
drinker and champion snorer)
James ( Joint first mate, tea-totaller on voyage
-not on land, consumer of more chocolate than is decent for such a trim
figure)
Chris (Joint first mate, sail setter/tweaker
extraordinaire, never knowingly refused a meal, 2nd beer
drinker)
Jos (Galley Rat - who baked bread to crack your teeth on
and brownies to glue them back together again)
