Anegada
DAY FOUR: Anegada. The housemates felt intrepid today.
After a breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon (and nooooooooo bread), they
embarked on an off-road mission on bikes designed for the Putney Bridge to
Victoria commute (i.e. no actual cycling). At midday. Mad dogs and Englishmen
have NOTHING on the housemates. The journey was slow and extremely hazardous.
The quick sand was everywhere and there were a lot of lions. Having survived
the cycle (just), they arrived at Cow Wreck Bay at about 13:00, had a few
Corona, and sat in the sea for a while. After the third Corona, Emma’s
face faded from Baboon-ass-red to blotchy puce. Tom discovered a talent for
the bar’s game, which involves swinging a brass ring suspended from the
ceiling by a length of string onto a hook a few feet away – clearly
something only achievable by those with a serious amount of time on their
hands. Kit was jealous of the men in the bar, all of whom had luxuriant
moustaches. He may now grow one. Watch this space. At about 16:00 they had a
caipirinha for the journey home. Once they had arrived at “home”
(Neptune’s Treasure bar, near where Pelekan is swinging dangerously close
to some rather beautiful looking coral), they had a fourth beer (this time
Carib) and discussed politics with some Americans. They ordered tuna for
supper (too much Anegada lobster). |
