34:43.52N 76:39.86W Jos and I back to Pelekan to
move her south down the ICW. We have hit a cold USA winter, the run down
the bay had the usual mix of everything - a flat calm, icy cold on day 1, thick
fog on the morning of day 2 and cold, by 10am rising winds above 40kts for our
arrival and parking in Hampton. From here we went down the Virginia cut,
the Dismal swamp route closed by a tornado the day before. Bizarre for
January. We pushed through the ice at Great Bridge lock and meandered down
a beautiful and deserted, not surprisingly, waterway to Town Creek Marina where
we stopped for a few days cleaning etc prior to going home. It snowed in
Beaufort for the first time in a decade!
