Tom and I have been in the Caribbean long enough to have had problems with the generator(x2), dingy and BBQ. NOT much really in 13 days......
We were bonded with Nanny Cay, Tortola, escaping for sails only to return a day or two later with yet another problem. 48 hours was the longest trip until Jan arrived last week. We have now accomplished two trips to North Sound Virgin Gorda and are just about to spend our 3rd night on Anegada. It is an idyllic almost completely flat island. Just the odd palm tree here and there. They suffered 140 mile an hour winds with hurricane Earl but have recovered incredibly well and quickly with new landing docks already built and in use.
The weather has been typical Caribbean, warm, sun and cloud, the odd heavy shower, hugely better than anything in the UK!
Tom has made fine bread and we are trying to maintain local customs with rum cocktails at regular intervals. Great having Jan on the boat. Her previous sailing experiences were in Hong Kong. It's ok though. The new awning, which we now put up whilst at anchor, it keeps us blissfully cool, makes Pelekan look like a sampan. The pegged out swim wear adds to the Chinese laundry appearance - so she's quite at home.
Tomorrow we'll pull up the anchor and sail off to another of these delightful Virgin Islands.
