Kuki was still getting her feet under her today so we had a
relatively quiet day. John rigged the bow netting which took three hours or so
and now we are starting to look ready for sea. We went over to Nelsons dockyard
for a late salad lunch and decided we would return there in the evening for a pizza.
Jens was busy getting his boat finalised – the spare exhaust part had
arrived and he was having questionable fun installing it. They have decided to
leave at 0500 on the 10th as they are heading for St Martens to pick
up their crew which includes his father. They found that it was a lot cheaper
to fly everyone into St Martens than Antigua
but they will have to go through the swing bridge to pick them up – hence
the early start to catch the bridge. They will be heading for the Azores from there so we might meet up with them there –
their boat is called Flying Ducman. Kuki has decided she will be ready to go
tomorrow and is going to start cooking – we had a quick run around
yesterday to pickup some ingredients as we still have the galley basically
empty ready for the big shop during the week. Whilst looking for the
ingredients she needed we almost ran over a pedal cyclist who just shot out of
a turning heading straight for us. Fortunately we were travelling very slowly
or the result could have been horrendous. The standards of road safety here are
terrible especially on Friday nights and the weekend and they don’t seem
to care which side of the road they are on. Great care is needed. Tomorrow
morning we are going to have a final sort out of clothes so we have space ready
for Charles and we will pack all the unwanted items away for the duration. Charles
arrives via San Juan
at 1600 tomorrow.
