After a frenetic day on Thursday doing the final stores shop, PYS
completing the repairs to the damaged pilothouse window, redelivering the
car after collecting Jonathan from Rockland where he came in on the ferry
from Vinalhaven, we cleared Customs and Homeland Security late afternoon.
Spent the next few hours packing away the stores, tidying up and
entertaining various visitors who came to see us off. A quick meal and
some time going through the operation of the boat then early night ready
for the start at daylight on Friday.
Departed Portland at 0730 for Martha?s Vineyard with the intention of
getting through the Cape Cod Canal as quickly as possible and then hole up
on the north side of Martha?s Vineyard whilst hurricane Noel goes past. 60
to 70 knot winds still being forecast as it goes by. Once there we will
sit and wait for the all clear from Bob Cook our meteorologist in Florida
and then head out for the Gulf Stream and Bermuda.
A pleasant day and we will be motoring some as the winds although in our
favour are very light.
