We set off at first light leaving a moody looking sunrise behind the bay.
As expected there was a wind shadow when we left, to compensate for having to motor for a while we had a fantastic dolphin visit, the largest pod since we were in the med were playing and fishing, some chose to join us for a while while others continued to fish. I mainly videod them as I usually miss them in photos. They were a delight with possibly 2 different types of dolphins swimming together, mostly they were definitely striped Dolphins but there were a couple which were significantly bigger and had different beaks although I don’t seem to have caught them on camera to try and identify them 🙄. There were mums and babies as well who always stay slightly further away from the boat to protect the babies.
We were soon sailing although the wind was fickle, once we got to the south of the island and out of its shadow and land influence we were flying along close hauled, soon it was time to reef the sails for a more comfortable sail.We had a fast windward sail sometimes doing 8+ knots reefed as we headed to Martinique, the sea was nothing like yesterdays nice flat state when we sailed from Guadeloupe so if was a salty bash but reasonably enjoyable once we settled into the swing of it. We made good time and were anchored at Sainte Pierre before 4pm!
