We had a good time in St Martin. When we first got there we didn’t go ashore for a couple of days, it was windy and the anchorage was bouncy so we stayed on board, tidied boat and generally relaxed! When we did eventually launch the dinghy and head ashore it was to find a laundrette to wash bedding, towels, clothes, especially cold weather ones we wore in USA and at the start of the trip south - we won’t need them for a while🤩, I could do it all in the boat but it’s been pretty wet with showers periodically throughout the day and night since arriving so drying is an issue! The next stop is the shops to get some fresh food and of course a baguette 🥖or 2.
A newer Oyster 46 was anchored not far away from us so we called by to say hello and met Sonsy Lass’s owners Martin and Sharon. Of course we invite them over for sundowners and had a fantastic evening - well they stayed there till after midnight, possibly a record for first time meeting some new friends 🤩 we had a great time and subsequently had a few evenings and outings together!

They were buying a new dinghy and therefore selling their old one, ours sprung yet another leak- this time from where the tube is attached to the aluminium hull, which has been repaired under warranty back in 2019 and again by us in the past! So we were looking for a replacement, we weren’t sure as theirs was a fair bit bigger than ours - our one was 2.76m and theirs 3.4 so wouldn’t fit on our front deck inflated for passages, we would have to deflate the tubes. Anyway after a lot of umming and ahhing we went ahead, bought it along with its outboard, the same as our petrol one but newer! Now we have 2 dinghy’s and 3 outboards😂. We were going to give our dinghy away but decided St Martin is full of wrecks and derelicts, if someone wanted it most likely it would be used till it sunk and just left somewhere (I have repaired the leak so it’s sound at the moment and needs someone willing to patch it up when it springs a new leak not leave it full of water etc) anyway so for now we have it on the front deck and the new one on the arch at the back.
We also saw Vincent and Kimberley a few times who we met in Deltaville last year and our lovely friends Carl and Jo on Rochhopper arrived about 10 days after us, so good to see them again, they are heading to the Panama Canal and on to the pacific so it’s probably the last time we will see them for a while.
Of course we did sundowners, then they did etc.
When the wind was more South easterly we decided to head to Grand Case anchorage.
