17:00.66N 061:46.679W We made the short 10 mile trip round to Falmouth harbour sailing for bits of it but the wind was fickle and as soon as we were sailing it died, we tried though and as we got nearer Falmouth actually sailed for a nice 30 minute stint 😂. We anchored off pigeon beach. We saw a couple of boats, Trumpeter is here and Illusions, Sue and Greg who were next to us in Stingray point last year on their previous boat arrived from the Canaries, they had had a few issues on passage! Among other problems neither their engine or generator were working. We went to the infamous Tot club with Chris and Amanda Basically there is a members meeting daily at various locations, we went to it in English harbour at Nelson’s Dockyard, at 6pm all participating members and guests stand in a large circle, the toast master reads an account of British naval events which occurred on the date historically, followed by a toast and a rum tot, of course Steve participated but as I wasn’t having a tot I wasn’t included in the circle! ![]() Anyway it was a lovely evening and we met a few other people, Nelson’s Dockyard was pretty with Christmas lights on the trees. We noticed a post on the local Facebook group by a young couple needing a dinghy, I contacted Georgie and invited her and Jay to come and look at our old dinghy, they anchored not far from us, launched their dinghy and rowed over, by the time they arrived theirs was partially deflated and had an inch or so of water in it 😬, They had just crossed the Atlantic and had been planning to sail back later this year but their crossing wasn’t good and can’t face the trip back! Anyway they left with our dinghy aware it had had several leaks which we had repaired, let’s hope it will be better than the one they have. ![]()
Sam and Kelda on Tonks arrived in time for New Year and we had a lovely evening with them getting back to Innamorata in time to get a great view of the fireworks being set off from pigeon beach. I patterned and started to make a dinghy cover as the one we now have doesn’t have one! It’s a horrible job I said I would never do again, it took a few trips to the beach to pattern it before I started to cut out and make it, sewing it all will take a while! We stayed in Falmouth for a couple of weeks, we snorkelled the reef a few times, lots of turtles about which all seem to have their pet yellow remoras stuck to their shells, a beautiful eagle ray, stingrays, a couple of octopus- (we each saw one in different locations) and the usual small reef fish. We also had our dive regs serviced, caught up with friends and met some new ones but we felt the need to move so decided to head round to Green Island. |
