We have now been here in Las Palmas a couple of
days, the weather is overcast but warm with the odd rain shower. We had
the safety inspection of Erasmos yesterday and the only things we failed on were
minor. We had to get a new radar reflector as ours was not adequate for
ocean crossing regulations. also, we had to add our name and reflective
tape to our life rings and finally we need to put one more block of wood or
strap in to secure our batteries in case we roll the boat over. We are
getting all the little things done and sorted out, such as meal planning and
organizing where we are going to put everything on the boat. Tomorrow we
start attending a number of seminars over the next 10 days dealing with
everything from provisioning tips to managing emergencies at sea. I have
been to a few of these lectures before when I did the seminar in England in
February and they were excellent.
