Thasos Update

We have not moved - well, apart from to a different place on the quay in order to try and get shore power - no luck.  Yesterday, upon the advice of the Port Police, we visited the Mayor's Office to find out if we could be connected to the shore power on the quay, and were told that, although there are power pedestals on the quay, they have no means in place for the collection of money from yachts - so there is no power available.  Apparently the "Marina Harbour" was built as a development project with a huge EU grant but, as no EU money was provided for the subsequent management, it is not managed - bit like similar projects in Italy and Sicily really . . . . .
We have met some new friends here who have taken us around the island and invited us to stay in their mountain village house - very comfortable, and we are going to a BBQ this evening.
We now have a new alternator but are not sure that it is working correctly; also the generator now seems fixed so we have some power back and are not just relying on the solar panels topping-up the batteries.  We plan to stay here a bit longer and see some more of the island as we have become a little tired of bashing from island to island.
