Mooring here was to be our first attempt at anchoring with a line attached to the shore. This is very common in Turkey.

Our learning curve was exponential.
The theory is easy.
The practical  ..well let’s just say you need to practice a few times.

Here are some snippets;
Having dropped the anchor and as John is reversing towards the rocks Bob could not find a place to land the dinghy and tie the line to shore fast enough.
Bob had no mobile VFH radio with him there was lots of shouting.

Bob couldn’t hear us over the engine noise of the outboard.

Bob ties the shore line and then the anchor drags.

It’s a good job we moved to another spot because Bob later found jagged rocks just under the waterline where we were before.

Phew…

But all good things require a little practice and we finally made it. We had a great mooring with a fantastic view and super snorkeling grounds all around us.
We all deserved a stiff Gin!

Over the next couple of days we discovered great snorkeling, goats, exciting paths and campsites and the joys of BBQing from the pushpit of the boat.
Two huge super yachts came into our bay. A few hours later along came their new toy - a 100ft racing catamaran yacht! This has to have been the largest racing catamaran I have ever seen. And now we also had our ice cream boat go by each day – but visit us too!

Suzan was still feeling good. So, we all decided on a longer sail! This time to Ekincik Bay about 25 miles to the west.
