We sail from Datca to Gocek

The final sail to Gocek would have to be overnight. The distance was 70 miles. 70 miles is a messy distance in ‘Timeless’. This distance is either a very long day sail requiring speed or a very very slow overnight sail. Our plan was to leave late afternoon however the winds were forecast to be over 30 knots at that time - not really the best conditions to lift the anchor so we decided to leave at 11am before the wind set in.  It turned out to be a good decision as the wind made for a very fast start to our sail. By 11pm that night we were close to Fethiye Bay but were having to use the engine. We actually arrived at Gocek at 3am so we circled for two hours while we waited for the sun to come up. As soon as daylight dawned we found a nice anchorage in a large bay very close to the marina at 6am for well earned sleep before entering the marina.
The scenery in this area is simply stunning. The mountains are huge, the water is crystal clear and blue! This is the best scenery we have seen so far on our travels so you can see why people who bring their boats here never leave!
