It’s now late November,
..the weather has a more insistent cold snap to it,
..the winds are definitely bigger (I’m told that it reached 50 knots over the main island last week),
..the restaurants are closing for the season,
..and we are a little sailed out just now.

The cold.
The snow.
The ice.
..beckons us

If you are intent on getting cold then do it properly and get back to Canada!

Thanks to the heads up from Ken, a real pal that we originally met in Guernsey and then subsequently kept in touch with, we have landed in Marina Menorca in Mahon and decided to leave the boat here for a few months whilst we pop back to Canada via the UK.

We read that Mahon was once quoted by Lord Nelson as being the safest harbour in the Mediterranean and who are we to argue with him.
If this harbour is good enough for him then it’s good enough for us! Marina Menorca is deep deep 3 miles inside the harbour so there is no fear of wash from passing boats either.
We have been very lucky to have found Liane and Serapio. They will keep an eye on our boat for us and organise the little maintenance jobs that need to be done at the end of each season and at the start of the the new season. Peter, just 30 meters across from us has also offered to watch over us whilst he winters here on his huge Lagoon catamaran.

Meanwhile we have been able to extensively tour the Island – a really beautiful island – Even though it is quietly closing done for the year!
Still! If you are o/k with a rattle shaker car then car rental is now only 10 Euros a day!

See  -  There is always a silver lining!

..now if we can just get this luggage within the tiny weight restrictions these European airlines impose
