Formentera
The
first night we went to ‘Café de Lago’.
This little Pizzeria overlooked a
small lagoon and served excellent Pizza to go with the view of ‘white caps’ and
‘swaying masts’ whilst we felt very self-satisfied that we were nicely tucked up
in a marina with big solid concrete pontoons.
‘Posidonia’ being a distant memory
in another time.
hmmm.. at least I think it was the wind blowing the masts
and not the effect of the wine!
We
hired a car the next day to tour the island.
This little island is only 12
miles long and 4 miles wide (maybe!) - but well worth the drive.
The scenery was spectacular. The
towns are all very small and cute.
All the beaches have white sand and
crystal clear water.
We
actually drove to the two lighthouses but unfortunately we had no view due to
the morning mist! Doh!
But we
were told that the view really is spectacular, really.
There only one course
of action then.
We closed our eyes and imagined the most spectacular view we
could imagine.
We can confirm then – the views from these lighthouses are
spectacular!
We
found a wonderful seaside restaurant for lunch and had one of the best fish
dishes ever – like EVER!
Magnificent cliffs to one side with waves crashing into the rocks and the
local town to the other side. Ibiza
was just visible in the distance.
The sea was turquoise blue and the sun was shining again!
This chef
was amazing.
Actually, we didn’t just find this restaurant - it had been
recommended.
Anyway, this is part what cruising is all about for us. Arrive
at a port. Explore the area and finding great food!
We
took lots of pictures. (no, not from the lighthouses!)
OOPS!!!!
When
we got back to the boat we found the camera’s memory card still in the computer
- not the camera!
Of course we
probably should have returned to the restaurant again to retake the pictures –
tough job this.
ah well - we
will always have the memories!
Formentera
was a lovely clean island with very friendly people. Well worth a return visit.
Hey,
we can always reacquaint ourselves with our old buddy
‘Posidonia’.
