Hi Folks,

We are not in sight of land yet but the weather feels warmer the wind as well, there is traffic on the VHF and also shipping (mostly coming at you at night).  Some say you can taste the land but I can only taste the rather salty Portuguese sausages we had for lunch.  We are even able to catch some sun if you stay out of the wind which is still blowing around 10 Knots, not as helpfully as before off the beam, it has slightly hardened but we are still able to get almost 7 Knots without recourse to the old iron mainsail.

If it fades we have 450 litres of fuel to blast home with so we will definitely be there by Saturday, there are 298 Nm to the waypoint just off Tarifa and maybe 10 miles beyond. Two more nights at sea then we arrive and perhaps by tomorrow morning we are cruising past the coast of Portugal.  We have a passenger today a dove (no olive branch) and a very tired one at that.  It arrived at 8am and had been perching on various parts of the boat for about 5 hours.   I hope this particular flower of the sea (Quentin's favourite quote "birds are the flowers of the sea") does not leave a deposit of fertiliser behind when it leaves.
