Hi folks,

we have finally left St Lucia, there were a lot of unpredictable problems with the boat, which I had contracted folks to fix but I guess it is the same everywhere.  If you are not standing in front of them with money nothing happens.  I am pleased to say that Jon from the electronics company has been quite helpful today and we (or rather I) have sorted the problems remotely without having to return to st Lucia.  It is all very frustrating when it is just a question of a loose nut on the positive terminal of the battery charger to tighten up and no one thought to check before.  But then again this is what happens when a boat is left for several months without folks aboard.  I think all is well now and we will have a successful journey from now on.

We are now moored off Dominica with a plan to sail to Guadeloupe tomorrow and then Antigua the next day.  The weather is horrible, quite unseasonal with grey sky and rain every day.  Everyone is very surprised that it is like this but it can only last a few days.  I guess the wind is still there so we can still make progress.  We Ideally want about 15-20 knots from due East or south east (if the wind witch is listening).

We are still waiting for our first catch on the new rod and reel I purchased in St Lucia.  It is so much easier and quicker to manage than the hand line we have been using.  Perhaps the fish are unhappy about the weather as well.

best to all for now, more progress tomorrow I hope.
