Hi Folks,

We had a great time in Bermuda but it had to end and were all anxious to get out to sea.  A fond farewell to all the friends we have made and safe passage to all the yachts and especially those coming our way shortly (Chimera, TrippleD, OtraVida,Rain Maker and Tzigane).  Please remember to pick up anything we may drop overboard on the way and we will always welcome an email update from you guys.  Thanks to Jo for showing us the sights in Hamilton and the south shore.

So we are now on the way to Horta.  Thanks to the Wind Witch we now have a gale up our backside and we are making great progress at an average speed of around 8.5 Knots.  We have managed a peak speed of 16.6 Knots and we hope to bang out a couple of 200 mile days before the wind runs out.  However we may need to put some sun in our weather request as it is a little wet and rainy out here and just a little cool.  It was actually quite full on when we left the wind was gusting above 35Knots and we were proceeding under double reefed main sail and bimini, but has settled to between 20 and 30 Knots which from behind is quite manageable.  There is quite a seaway with as forecast waves running around 12-15 ft in places, I am sure we will see larger on our way.

Wind looks good for the next few days but we will have to head North a little when the wind comes around to the south or we may catch the south side of the Atlantic high which is re-establishing itself.

Food is ready so I will sign off for now and enjoy our Chicken and Aubergine Curry, which Snark Vets will recognise as a traditional first night out meal.  Mike will probably opt for some soya sauce topping but we are trying to civilise him.
