Hi folks,
Just tied up in Gibraltar, what a stroke of luck
there was no fuel in Estepona so I had to wait and fill up in Gibraltar, which
of course is a tax free haven so I only paid 40p per litre for Fuel. While
the anchorage near the airport runway and the marina the same is not the
prettiest of places it would be a good launch point for cruising the south coast
of Spain and Portugal and also Africa, and it is now an economical place to
stock up. However the down side is that there is no space in
the Marina tonight (though it does not look that full).
Keel depth may be the problem? I can pick up the guys tomorrow (I am
solo at the moment) from the fuel station, it will be a bit of a treck for
them from the airport but will be better than transferring the luggage via the
tender.
I attach a picture of the marina at Gibraltar and
one of the approach around the rock and a second showing all the ships at anchor
waiting for fuel I expect.
Tomorrow I will be leaving here with a crew of 3,
myself, Dugald Moore and Chris Lander, we are just awaiting their arrival via
plane around lunch time tomorrow.
I'll try and make sure I send daily updates over
the next few days while we are sailing to Canaries, though photo's will have to
wait till we get to WIFI.
All the best, wish me luck.
Ben
