Hi folks,

hope all are well logging in from Blighty and those behind or in front of us in the Atlantic are experiencing fair wind.

After our excitement yesterday morning with fair winds and 8+ knots of boat speed for most of the day, we were somewhat downhearted when we started losing speed around dinner time.  During the night it was slow going and dawn had us putting the last of our reserve fuel into the tanks and cranking the engine again and heading on to the zone on the Grib forecasting wind.  The good news is that after only 2 hours we found it again.  It is a bit on and off but we are currently making 7 knots toward Horta.  I think the wind has had its' fun with us now and ought to be prepared to behave.  Or maybe the WW had a hangover after a big Saturday night and lapsed after finally bringing us wind.

If the wind does die we have probably enough fuel at low revs to motor ourselves home.  With any luck we will get enough wind and it will not be a problem.  I know I am running on a bit about the weather but I guess I am a bit obsessed at the moment with our speed and when we will get to Horta finally.  We now have a sweepstake going and it looks like Chris, who has the Thursday morning or later slot has the best chance to collect.  I have the other end of the spectrum with a Tuesday night arrival (assumes steaming along at 8knots).  The good news is that we won't run out of food, though a very light gas bottle means that tea is off the agenda, though someone had a cup this AM (using the hot tap I assume).

Last night we had a Saturday night pub quiz (without the beer) our combined score was a miserable 5 out of 10, thanks to Julie for the questions... and answers.  I have omitted the individual scores to hide our embarrassment, needless to say no-one got 5.  Anyway it was a bit of distraction and fun.

The Dolphins are still with us and the jelly fish thankfully not (or at least I did not see one today), however we have now come to the conclusion that the Dolphins are either eating or scaring off all the fish.  Not a single one so far on the trip, I find a fish free Atlantic very surprising given the number of bites we had last time across.

Bye for now dinner time beckons
